Digital Health for women

Digital health Women's health 1 min read , September 1, 2020

Consider these points- Women are the primary healthcare decision-makers in the majority of households. Women do a majority of family healthcare spending. They already use mobile apps and wearables to help them cope with and manage their conditions. So, if women are such a critical audience, why are they still under-served in the digital health space?

One of the startups that I have been actively involved with- Vivant.me, is tackling just this problem. They are a health tech startup operating out of Singapore/ India. They tackle important issues such as reproductive health, Fertility tracking, Pregnancy care, and timely health and wellness guidance. One of the exciting features is Doctor chat - imagine a woman in a distant rural setting being able to consult a qualified Doctor in a city at the touch of a button.

One of their offerings is the Nyra App (available on IOS and Android), which they launched in May 2019.

These are the milestones that they achieved so far:

• Number of downloads 800,000+

• 5 Languages English, Hindi, Malay, Bahasa, Indonesia Bahasa & Tamil. Arabic is next

• Doctor Chat 120,000+ doctor chats

• Chat Bot 10,000+ Interactions within two months and perhaps most gratifying many couples have started a family with the help of Nyra.

There is an opportunity for insurers and companies operating in the women's health space to co-create engaging digital health solutions for their customer base. For example, health insurance companies could create tailored products that cater to women's personalized needs.

Today, they apply a fairly standard premium applied on a group basis various risk parameters. Using Nyra, insurers could get the ability to set price and product features that match their customer's health profile.

Health insurance has been a "buy annually" and "use when you fall sick" kind of a product. The engagement points are usually a time of stress for the patient/customer.

Imagine having your customer engage with your brand almost daily (through the app), getting trusted information, and gaining value from you. That is a much-needed shift!
